OTR River Party

OTR River Party

We aren’t there this year, but that shouldn’t stop you from letting us know where you are.

Sadly this year there will be no river party. No more wine, no synchronized swimming, no portable tiki bar, and no bands. It saddens us to be missing this Sunday event, however we know that many of you are going to be celebrating OTR in your own way. Whether it’s hiking in the mountains, visiting with friends and relatives, or finding your own river to float down. If you would like to share your experiences please upload photos and videos here and we will post them in a collection. Looking forward to hearing about some wonderful experiences. We are calling it the “River Party” but it’s what you make of it. I’m sure you have some creative ideas as to how you will spend OTR this year. Let everyone know.

OTR Memorial

OTR Memorial

The start of OTR always begins by remembering our friends and family who have passed. This year we remember them virtually.

This will be available starting Thursday at 6:00 PM

Starting Thursday at 6:00 PM the memorial will be available online. You may visit it at any time though. These names will be read again during OTR 2021 along with any new names.

Annual Cooters Charity Poker Tournament

Annual Charity Poker Tournament

The Annual Cooters Charity Poker Tournament will be held again this year and the COVID-19 virus is unable to stop the fellowship that is shared among those that gather around the poker table year after year.  This year, the Annual Cooters Charity Poker Tournament will be held via an on-line tournament on Saturday, September 5th at 7:00 PM EST.  Everyone registering for the Tournament will be seated at the same time and continue to play until the NOTR 2020 winner collects the last chip.  For more information and a place to sign up, please visit the otr.org site.  All donations to enter the Tournament will go to help offset the projected decrease in OTR 2021 registration income.

OTR is Canceled This Year

OTR 2020 Misses You

It’s lonely out there. Unfortunately OTR has been canceled this year due to COVID-19. We hope you will all come back next year so that we can continue the tradition, however safety first. Please be safe and enjoy what we have been able to pull together on this virtual experience. We hope to keep adding to this site the rest of the year and hopefully you will contribute your own experiences.

Hillary Klug

Hillary will be the “musician at large” during the 71st Old Timers Reunion.  She is an internationally recognized and award-winning buck dancer.  She has been on just about every major stage in the U.S. with her performances televised all over the country.  In the past she has performed with the original fiddle player from the Celtic Women.  See her special message to OTR and watch some of her past performances here.

Ideas?

There are many ideas for ways to stay home and stay safe, but do you have any ideas for celebrating OTR while staying home?  Some that come to mind are:

  • Bringing back memories from past reunions, including photos, music, activities.
  • Can we still enjoy the music from our bands?
  • How about a virtual DooDah challenge.  Post photos and videos of your DooDah entry and let the attendees vote for the winner.
  • Discover new drink recipes you can make at home.
  • Can we still hold contests?  It may be a challenge, are there any ideas.
  • What else can you think of?
